Following one of the most frustrating losses of the season, the perfect man was on the mound in Yoshinobu Yamamoto. He once again kept a struggling offense in the game through a great start, which bought enough time for the bats to hit a pair of late solo homers to power them in front. Of course, it was keeping those leads that have been the problem of late, but today the Dodgers pen did their job and secured a 3-1 victory over the Brewers to even the series.

Another game, another lefty on the mound for the opposition, as Robert Gasser started for the Brewers on the bump.
The bats got off to a promising start for once, as they strung together three singles in a row with one down in the 1st, with Andy Pages, Teoscar Hernandez, and Mookie Betts leading to a run. 1-0 Dodgers.

The next two made out so they couldn’t get anything further, and then Gasser got a clean 2nd frame. A one-out single and two-out stolen base was stranded in the 3rd, and they also left a lead-off single standing on first in the 4th.

For the Dodgers, it was Yoshinobu Yamamoto once again on the mound looking to help his team off the mat.
He started in the 1st with a pair of strikeouts in a scoreless frame, including just a walk, but did labor through 26 pitches. A walk started the 2nd to deepen concerns, but a double play followed and he ended up facing just the minimum.
While Yamamoto gave up a one-out double in the 3rd, he also struck out the other three batters he faced in the inning, and only a one-out error prevented a clean 4th.

The Brewers got their first lead-off man on in the 5th, and it came in the form of a double, and then a bunt single followed to corner the runners with nobody out. That looked like potential disaster, but he gave up just a Joey Ortiz sac fly the rest of the inning to make it 1-1.

The 6th began with another lead-off runner reaching via a single, but Hunter Feduccia gunned him down trying to steal, and Yamamoto faced the minimum in the inning.

A labored start, but he did his usual thing: 6 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 9 K, 97 Pitches.

He did leave with the lead, actually.

Gasser was still in for the Brewers in the 5th, and Andy Pages yoinked his 20th homer of the season to put the Dodgers up 2-1.

The 6th saw another run tacked on in the same way when Tommy Edman tanked his fourth of the year to make it 3-1.

A two-out double that came later was stranded there, as Gasser made it through the 6th. Surprisingly, he continued into the 7th, and he got an out but then issued a walk and that was it for him.
Grant Anderson entered, got the second out, issued another walk to put a pair on, and then gave up a lineout that ended the 7th with no insurance for the Dodgers. The 8th was then given to Bryse Wilson, who struck out the side.

And so the struggling Dodgers pen had nine outs to get, and it was Evan Phillips starting the 7th. In a pleasant surprise, he cruised through a 1-2-3 frame to just move things along.
In the 8th it was an oddly-rested Tanner Scott, who used that to his advantage in routinely hitting 98 MPH and looking sharp. A two-out infield single is all he gave up, striking out a pair in a scoreless frame.

Who was next? Well, Edwin Diaz, man! Lot of confidence in him!
Dave Roberts was being dead serious, and he was given the last three outs, and Edwin loaded the bases with a hit batter and two walks, but did somehow get three outs thanks in part to Tommy Edman spearing a liner and Enrique Hernandez scooping a terrible throw from Mookie.
