Different day, same story for the Dodgers, including the starting pitcher being largely effective and the offense being cheeks. That led to a tight game that came down to the pens late, and the Tigers were able to walk it off in a 2-1 loss.

Blake Snell began looking for efficiency, but didn’t get. Thankfully at least, he did limit the damage throughout his start.
After a clean 1st, he worked around a lead-off single in the 2nd, but found major trouble in the 3rd. A lead-off walk was followed by a bunt that was fumbled by Max Muncy for an error and everybody was safe. Gleyber Torres then followed with a ground-rule double for a 1-0 Tigers lead.

That was major trouble, but remarkably the error didn’t even score, as Snell got a foul out, issued a walk to load things up, and then got a pair of huge strikeouts to get him out of the jam.
He then bounced back by striking out the side in the 4th, but then had to work around a lead-off double and two-out walk in the 5th. All of that stuff, in addition to the strikeouts, ran his pitch count up and that was it for him: 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 10 K, 99 Pitches.

Unfortunately for him, Snell left the game trailing, because the bats were terrible early against Keider Montero.
A clean 1st was followed by a two-out walk in the 2nd and a two-out walk in the 3rd, then two more clean innings followed in the 4th and 5th.
The Dodgers then got something going to start the 6th, as Alek Thomas led off the frame with a double. Shohei Ohtani then grounded out to advance him to third, and Freddie Freeman came up with a big single to tie the game at 1-1.

That counts as a win nowadays. Sad.
Anyway, the rally continued afterward, as Mookie Betts singled, which ended Montero’s day.
Tyler Holton entered and walked Max Muncy to load the bases, which to most teams would be a great chance, but Tommy Edman took a center-cut pitch and grounded into a double play to end the 6th.

The 7th was started by Andrew Sears and a double from Kyle Tucker, but he was left stranded there. He then got a clean 8th and continued in the 9th, getting two outs but with a single sandwiched between. Kenley Jansen then entered and got a long flyout to end things.

Taking over for the Dodgers pen was Seth Halvorsen in the 6th, giving up just a two-out hit batter and steal in a scoreless frame. Next up was Alex Vesia in the 7th, who gave up a two-out single and steal, but that was it.
The 8th was given to Edgardo Henriquez, who got an eye-popping strikeout among his three outs, only hitting a batter with two outs.
Jack Dreyer took over in the 9th, giving up a lead-off double for immediate trouble, followed by a sac bunt that resulted in a nervy out as Dreyer threw inside and Edman was barely able to catch it. An intentional walk was followed by an unintentional walk to load things up, and Kevin McGonigle then walked it off with a single for a 2-1 loss.
