The Dodgers won the series against the Tigers thanks to Tyler Glasnow‘s stellar outing and Teoscar Hernandez helping to power the offense to a quasi-breakout of sorts in a 6-1 win.

For the Tigers, it was Framber Valdez, who cruised through a clean 1st. The 2nd saw a chance for the Dodgers, as Freddie Freeman started off the 2nd with a walk, then after a predictable Teoscar Hernandez strikeout, Miguel Rojas doubled down the line in left to put a pair in scoring position. That just led to disappointment, as Kyle Tucker and Enrique Hernandez struck out to kill that rally.
After a clean 3rd, the Dodgers finally got something going in the 4th. Back-to-back one-out singles from Freddie Freeman and Teoscar Hernandez cornered things, and Miguel Rojas finally got a run in with a sac fly to make it 1-0 Dodgers.

Almost amusingly, that was when things went sideways for the only time for Tyler Glasnow, who was perfect through his first three frames. In the 4th, he gave up a single, uncorked a wild pitch, and gave up a one-out Kevin McGonigle single to tie things at 1-1.

He got some help from Ben Rortvedt, who threw out McGonigle stealing, but was frustrated when he followed that with a walk.
Glasnow took out those frustrations on the Tigers, retiring the next 10 hitters to get him through the 7th in dominant fashion: 7 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 6 K, 85 Pitches.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers actually managed to give him support, as Framber worked around a one-out single in the 5th but gave the game up in the 6th. A one-out double to Freddie Freeman was followed by a Teoscar Hernandez’s 12th homer of the year to make it 3-1 Dodgers.

In the 7th, Tyler Kinley gave up a lead-off single to Enrique Hernandez, who promptly got backpicked off first as Rortvedt failed to bunt. Swell. That was it for the inning.
Tanner Rainey was in for the 8th and is now my favorite reliever of all time. He gave up a one-out double to Mookie Betts, walked Freddie Freeman, and both advanced on an erroneous backpick attempt. Teoscar Hernandez got hit by a pitch to put the Dodgers in the dreaded bases loaded situation, but that didn’t last long as a wild pitch followed to score Mookie.

He also walked Tucker before getting yoinked for Kyle Finnegan, who finished the inning. Jacob Waguespack finished them in the 9th with a clean frame.

On the other side, the Dodgers pen got … two low leverage innings?!
Yes, Kyle Hurt started in the 8th with a nice lead and gave up just a one-out walk. Then Seth Halvorsen finished things in the 9th with a clean frame.
