Riding a three-game winning streak and with the series win against the Nationals already secured, the Dodgers came from behind again tonight in a 7-5 victory to secure the sweep.
After back-and-forth action, the Dodgers rallied back twice, the latter of which won it when Mookie Betts hit a three-run homer to give Bobby Miller the win after three innings in his 2026 debut. Edgardo Henriquez then locked down the save.

Nationals starter Andrew Alvarez has been effective so far in his MLB career, and that mostly continued today against a depleted Dodgers unit.
He cruised through a clean 1st and got just a one-out walk in the 2nd, but ran into some mess in the 3rd. A Max Muncy lead-off double and a one-out infield single from Tommy Edman cornered the runners, leading to a Mookie Betts RBI groundout to make it 1-0 Dodgers.

A walk followed to put a pair on, but there was no two-out rally in the 3rd, and that would bite them immediately.

In the wake of all the injuries to their starters, the Dodgers suddenly have to piece together two rotation spots a turn at the moment. That has led to reliever Justin Wrobleski to become bulk guy Justin Wrobleski in something of a pen game.
He started pretty well, giving up a pair of singles in the 1st but not really threatened due to a double play between them. The 2nd saw a two-out walk and single that didn’t amount to anything, and cruised through a clean 3rd.
Things went bad and quickly for Wrobleski immediately after getting a lead. He gave up a game-tying solo homer to CJ Abrams on an 0-2 pitch to make things 1-1.

A soft single to right and an infield single put a pair on, and Harry Ford took advantage with a double to plate two, and Jacob Young followed with a single to score Ford and make it 4-1 Nationals just like that.

I suppose the upside is he looked solid to start before faltering late, which would be fine for a relief role: 3 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 1 BB, 6 K, 73 Pitches.
Brock Stewart entered to stop the bleeding and immediately induced a double play, then he walked a batter but subsequently caught the runner stealing to end the 4th.
In his first appearance back off the IL, Blake Treinen looked pretty sharp, giving up just a two-out walk and pick-off attempt error in a scoreless 5th.

Meanwhile, the Nats still had Alvarez on the mound, and his 4th came and went in a flash thanks to the wind killing Teoscar Hernandez‘s deep flyball.
The Dodgers finally rallied again in the 5th, as Max Muncy started with a single and a one-out Tommy Edman double scored him from first. That made it 4-2 Nationals and also knocked Alvarez out of the game.

Brad Lord entered and got the second out, but then Will Smith singled to score Edman, Freddie Freeman singled to corner the runners, and Teoscar Hernandez singled as well to score Smith to tie the game at 4-4. That is where the rally ended.

After that rally it was Bobby Miller to make his 2026 debut after a long road back from injury. He was greeted rudely with a triple to center, a walk followed, and they got a brief reprieve after a grounder to third cut down the lead runner.
After a groundout advanced both runners and opened a base, Dave Roberts opted to walk James Wood, understandable but it felt inevitable that Bobby would force a run in, and he did so by hitting Dylan Crews to make it 5-4 Nationals. However, that was all he gave up.
He got the final out and then retired the next six in a row through the 7th and 8th, though it did require a home run robbery from Kyle Tucker.

For the Nats, Lord continued in the 6th, giving up a one-out single and walk but no runs thanks to Mookie getting robbed at the wall.
Lefty Will Dion was up next in the 7th, striking out the side, and he started the 8th by getting the first two batters as well.
Dion then got ahead of Alex Call with an 0-2 count, but gave up a single back up the middle. A Tommy Edman walk followed, which cleared the way for another massive three-run homer, this one from Mookie Betts to give the Dodgers a 7-5 lead just like that. His 18th of the year was one of his biggest.

So it was a save chance for the Dodgers in the 9th, and it was Edgardo Henriquez as closer for a trust tree. He started out looking shaky with a lead-off walk and then threw a wild one up and in. That led to a meeting with Will and Mookie on the mound that seemed to prove consequential.
He then mowed down the next three for the save, punctuating it with a strikeout.

The Dodgers will now welcome the Reds for a three-game series starting an hour earlier than normal at 3:10 PM HT/6:10 PM PT/9:10 PM ET. It’ll reportedly be Emmet Sheehan coming up to be the bulk guy, and he’ll face a rough matchup in the breakout star of Chase Burns.
