Behind the stellar performance of Yoshinobu Yamamoto‘s seven shutout innings, the Dodgers have now won five in a row over the Reds recently, as Teoscar Hernandez stayed scorching hot and the offense found enough runs despite being double play machines to win 4-0.

Rhett Lowder could use a break, as his last four starts now includes the Cubs, Brewers, and the Dodgers twice. It was better than last time today, at least.
He started by working around a one-out single in the 1st, but saw trouble in the 2nd after hitting Max Muncy with one out, allowing a single to Tommy Edman, and then giving up a single to Hunter Feduccia to make it 1-0 Dodgers and corner the runners. However, the Dodgers didn’t get any more from that chance.

Lowder then got the first two of the 3rd, but then walked Kyle Tucker and Teoscar Hernandez then lasered his 15th homer of the year into the stands for a 3-0 Dodgers lead.

There looked to be more trouble in the 4th when a hit batter and walk started things, but a double play managed to kill that off, and similar happened in the 5th when a single was erased by another DP.
That was the end for Lowder.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto was dominant in his last start — which also came against the Reds — but started ominously today with back-to-back walks in the 1st. However, he got the next eight in a row before a two-out double in the 3rd, and then proceeded to get the next 13.
Yeah, I mean, that was about it.
Yamamoto retired 21 of the last 22 batters he faced: 7 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 7 K, 91 Pitches.

Against the Reds pen, another double play killed off a rally in the 6th, but Alex Freeland did it the easy way in the 7th with his fourth homer of the year to make it 4-0 Dodgers.

Another double play ended a potential rally in the 8th, this time due to Tucker getting adventurous and trying to race Elly De La Cruz (ill advised) to the bag.
They also tried to rally in the 9th with a one-out walk and double, but couldn’t do so.

For the Dodgers, the pen was looking to not blow the shutout this time, or at least the lead. Brock Stewart started well in the 8th by facing the minimum thanks to a double play erasing a single, and Tanner Scott got the 9th. He started with a walk and a single, then threw ball one, followed by nine strikes in a row to close the game out.

The Josue De Paula update corner continues on, this time with mostly a downer as he lined out, grounded out, flied out, and struck out twice (another first, this one unfortunate).
