The Dodgers continued their homestand against the struggling Mets, who came into the game with five straight losses. Well, playing the Dodgers certainly didn’t help their issues, as their losing streak reached six after Justin Wrobleski dominated them over eight shutout frames and the Dodgers missed chances but Andy Pages landed the big blow in a 4-0 shutout victory.

Mets starter David Peterson ran into trouble immediately, as he hit Shohei Ohtani in the shoulder with an 0-2 pitch, walked Kyle Tucker, and gave up a single to Will Smith to make it 1-0 Dodgers in the 1st.

Teoscar Hernandez then worked a walk after falling behind 0-2 to force the bases loaded with nobody out … at which point Peterson struck out Freddie Freeman, Andy Pages, and Max Muncy. Yeesh.
Dodgers have the best offense in baseball … despite a .487 OPS with the bases loaded, as you just witnessed.

Thankfully, after going down in order in the 2nd, the Dodgers got breathing room in the 3rd. A lead-off walk to Tucker and a one-out walk to Teoscar was cashed in by a two-out three-run homer from none other than Pages. His fifth of the year put his OPS back above 1.200 and made it 4-0 Dodgers.

They did have more chances later against Peterson, but stranded a one-out double in the 4th and a one-out double and single in the 5th before he exited.
The offense was quiet against their pen, going scoreless over the final three innings, though they did get a pair of singles, a double, and a walk at least.

All that aside, the star of tonight was really Justin Wrobleski, who turned in the best start by a Dodger all year. Just who everybody expected.
He was dominant and efficient, retiring the first 13 batters he faced and only having a no-hitter broken up by a Jorge Polanco roller for a single against the shift. That was immediately followed by a double play, so he still ended up facing the minimum, and Wrobo continued that trend into the 8th when it was broken up allowed a two-out single.
No matter, he followed with an out to give him eight shutout frames with basically no sweat: 8 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K, 90 Pitches.

He did also get some help from Miguel Rojas, who made a stunning play to take away a hit, which really would’ve added to his lore if Wrobo ended up with a no-no or perfecto.

Dave Roberts did not allow him to go for the shutout, probably wise as his velo started to dip in the 8th. Anyway it was Tanner Scott in the 9th, and he gave up a lead-off single but faced the minimum thanks to a double play.

Last year, Tanner Scott finds a way to blow that. This year, he faces the minimum despite a lead-off single. #Neat

Not much drama to this one, which is how the wins usually go.

Shohei had an eventful at-bat in the 6th, with Francisco Alvarez awakening his back-pick trauma and then both Shohei and the umpire bailing as Alvarez called time late while rushing out and Craig Kimbrel was about to throw it anyway.
