After the offense showed up on Monday night, it disappeared last night with Shohei Ohtani on the hill. Is it a coincidence he also didn’t hit and the Dodgers didn’t? Probably, since Ohtani is struggling a bit at present. But I digress.
Tyler Glasnow gets a chance to clinch the series against Houston in a matinee affair. He’ll face off against Lance McCullers Jr., which means there are going to be a lot of curveballs today.

The Dodgers are rolling out the non-Will Smith lineup, as the backstop is getting the day off. No. 1 villain Dalton Rushing starts behind the dish. The rest of the lineup is status quo when facing a right-hander. It’d be nice if some of these guys starting hitting again.
Noticeably absent from the Astros’ lineup is Carlos Correa — and he’s not going to be around for quite some time.
Carlos Correa needs season-ending surgery on a torn tendon in his left ankle. Recovery is 6-8 months, he said.

The Dodgers will welcome back Brock Stewart to a bullpen in need of a quality right-handed reliever.
#Dodgers activated right-handed pitcher Brock Stewart from the injured list and optioned left-handed pitcher Jake Eder to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Glasnow is coming off his shortest outing of the season (5 2/3 innings) last time out against the Marlins. He got pretty wild with his pitches, as he walked a career-high six. The good thing is, he still struck out nine hitters. Still, it’s hard to overcome that many free passes. It’s definitely an anomaly, based on his Dodger career to this point. He’s also still the only non-Justin Wrobleski Dodger starter to throw at least 5 2/3 innings in each start this season, so expect another 6-inning outing (at least) for a guy having an All-Star-caliber campaign thus far.
And if you missed it, I wrote last week about Glasnow’s sinker and how it’s helping him become a more complete pitcher.
“Fewer of his sinkers are below the strike zone, compared to previous years. He has a lot more sinkers that are above the strike zone, and the warmest part of the heatmap is right down the middle, but up in the strike zone. That has led to the higher-than-expected launch angle. His 23.3 Whiff% on the sinker is second-best among pitchers with more than 100 sinkers thrown (Jose Soriano, 28.6%). Sinkers aren’t, traditionally, whiff-inducing pitches, so that’s helping to make it even more effective.”
Just something to keep an eye out for when watching Glasnow pitch throughout this season.

Finally, it seems Blake Snell will be back soon.
#Dodgers Blake Snell will make his next (and likely) final rehab start for Class-A Ontario on Saturday
