Wait, what’s “Dugout Blues”? I’m sure some of you asked yourself that very question. Well, allow me to explain.
“Dugout Blues” is a podcast created by myself and Jared Massey of Dodgers Nation. Jared and I go back some years, and that comes out in the dynamic we have on the podcast. We talk about all things Dodgers — majors, minors, personnel, etc. I, occasionally throw in a Giancarlo Stanton reference or two. So, I’m going to start doing a post every time there’s a new episode. You can also find a link to the podcast in the aptly titled “Podcast” link in the toolbar up top.
Since this is episode 99, we tried to have a grandiose guest for episode 100, but our efforts to book Vin Scully fell through. OK, we didn’t really try, so we’re going to (probably) have Purple Drank be our guest. He came in second in the Dugout Blues fantasy baseball league (won by yours truly), so his reward is getting to co-host. We’re going to try to do a Google Hangout, so we can get real-time audience participation. We’re working out the kinks with that and will be promoting it Monday and Tuesday.
We generally record on Tuesday nights and publish Wednesday during the day. Look for new episodes then. Without further ado, here’s a brief synopsis of this week’s episode.
=====
Jared and I talk about the Dodgers’ unfortunate and early exit from the playoffs with a 3-1 loss in the NLDS to the Cardinals. Whatever.
The bulk of the episode is spent talking about the Dodgers’ hiring of Andrew Friedman, which is about the best consolation prize the Dodgers could have gotten after a disappointing playoff series. Also, too much time is spent pondering who the next general manager is going to be.
There’s a brief update on the Dodger prospects in the Arizona Fall League. Corey Seager is really good.
As usual, we close with the Q&A.
