On this episode of “Dugout Blues,” Jared Massey (Dodgers Nation) and I discuss the mediocre week that was for the Dodgers.
Last episode, we were praising Joc Pederson and what he has done so far this season. This episode, we talk about his struggles. He’s still valuable, though.
The bullpen had a rough week — Yimi Garcia in particular. He got hit around a bit, but that’ll happen at times. Pedro Baez went down with an injury that could keep him out longer than the 15-day minimum. Despite that, there were some solid performers in Juan Nicasio and that Kenley Jansen guy, who made his triumphant return to the Dodgers.
The rotation is holding up despite the injuries and instability (instability doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad). That’s good because the offense had a little wake-up call this week after struggling a bit against the Marlins and especially the Rockies.
On the minor-league side, Jose De Leon is still great, and he was actually promoted to Double-A Tulsa just before we finished recording. Good luck, Texas League.
Grant Holmes also seems to be getting on track after a shaky start. The same could be said about Corey Seager in Triple-A.
