Dodgers 9, Diamondbacks 3: Mike Bolsinger strong, as is offense

Oh hai offense. Guess all the Dodgers needed was a little Diamondback pitching staff to get well, and they did so on Monday night in a 9-3 win.

The offense was led by Andre Ethier who went 2-for-4 with a 3-run home run in the fifth inning. It’s amazing to see the Ethier’s turnaround after being so — frankly — putrid in 2014. Howie Kendrick‘s return to the starting lineup was successful, as he went 3-for-4 with a couple runs scored. Even Jimmy Rollins got into the fun with a 3-run home run of his own in a 5-run fourth inning. It was his only hit, but he already has seven home runs on the campaign. At least he’s showing a little pop, if nothing else, at the plate.

This game was never in doubt as Mike Bolsinger spun another really solid game: 7 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 8 K, 94 pitches, 61 strikes, 8/2 GO/AO. He owns a 2.08 ERA 43 1/3 innings. Big thanks to the Diamondbacks for letting him go for “cash considerations.” Money is power.

Josh Ravin closed out the game by giving up a run o two hits. If there was any question about the prowess of his fastball, just ask A.J. Pollock: 98, 100, 98, 98, 98 (line out). He threw 20 pitches, and only three less 97 MPH (an 84, 85 and 86 MPH sliders). Dayum.

The Dodgers improve to 33-25 on the season with the win. They host Arizona in the second of a 3-game series tomorrow night. Carlos Frias (4-3, 4.25 ERA) goes up against Robbie Ray (1-0, 0.82 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. Pacific time.
