On this episode of “Dugout Blues,” Jared Massey (Dodgers Nation) and I squeeze in the podcast recording just before the season finale(!) of Game of Thrones. #casualfans
Joc Pederson is amazing, and he saved the Dodgers’ proverbial bacon on Sunday with a ridiculous catch. He’s already a 3-win player in his age-23 season, 62 games into said season. He good.
The Dodgers had a good week, taking both series against the Diamondbacks and Padres. That, coupled with a mini-skid by the Giants have the Dodgers up 3 1/2 games in the division.
Scott Van Slyke, Joel Peralta and Brandon League have all been rehabbing with the Quakes, and all have had different results. Van Slyke is playing one more game and will be back on Wednesday. Peralta and League still aren’t ready for prime time.
Hector Olivera can kinda hit, as he went 4-for-5 on Sunday. He’ll be up in a month, provided all goes well until then.
Ross Stripling made his 2015 debut with Great Lakes after not having pitched in nearly 22 months (Aug. 29, 2013). He was good and had good velocity on his fastball (91-93 MPH). Great to see him back.
Jared basically comped Leonardo Crawford (signed last year for $47,500) to Julio Urias, because Jared is the worst. Crawford was part of a no-hit bid in the Dominican Summer League.
And of course, we recap the draft. We talk about some of our favorite picks and the signability of some players chosen.
We finish with a Q&A session. Good questions, please keep them coming.
