Astros 3, Dodgers 0: Dumpster Fiers

The Dodgers were no-hit by Mike Fiers tonight, which … well it’s certainly depressing and enthusiasm sapping.

Brett Anderson surrendered three runs on seven hits and no walks in six innings of work. Anderson also struck out five in a solid outing that was ruined by two homers. Jake Marisnick, who until today hadn’t homered since about the Civil War, launched a two-run shot to left-center in the second to give the Astros a 2-0 lead. Evan Gattis then added to the lead with a solo shot to left in the sixth, putting the Astros up 3-0 for good. Chris Hatcher and Yimi Garcia followed with perfect innings, but it was no matter, as the three runs were more than enough for a dominant Fiers.

Fiers walked three but struck out 10 and threw a whopping 134 pitches en route to his no-hitter. That doesn’t fairly describe his dominance, but then again, I don’t really care either.

Remember, we all die eventually anyway.
