After splitting the first two games of the series, the Dodgers are sending Hyun-Jin Ryu out to make his second start of the season. The Cubs are countering with former Dodger Brett Anderson. As you know, Mr. Anderson is a lefty and the Dodgers have had trouble with southpaws since last season.
With Franklin Gutierrez out, Trayce Thompson draws a start a day after being recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Instead of starting in left field for Andrew Toles, he’s starting in center field for Joc Pederson, which, sigh. Not because of Trayce, but you know my whole thing with Joc and not being allowed to start more frequently against left-handed pitching. Adrian Gonzalez also gets a day off, which is good if the Dodgers want to keep him fresh for October.
The Cubs are employing a bit of a different look against Ryu. Ben Zobrist sits for Javier Baez, while Albert Almora starts in center field for Jon Jay, with Jason Heyward sliding over to right field (where he is elite, defensively). We’ll see if Ryu can build on his last performance that saw him throw 4 2/3 solid innings in Colorado.

That’s good. Rich Hill is eligible to come off the disabled list on Sunday. That will be determined, largely, by the way this bullpen session plays out.

Mitchell White is legit. Keith Law recently revised his Top 50 prospects, and Mr. White was No. 50. I saw him on Friday and the report from Karaman is almost identical to what I saw. I’m going to have a full report on White either tomorrow or Monday.
