Alex Wood has decided that he really doesn’t want to come out of the rotation, and he continued to show that by absolutely shoving against a great Rockies lineup. In six innings he threw 60 of his 88 pitches for a strike, allowing just five hits and a walk while striking out 10 batters. Wood was never really in danger in his six frames, allowing no runner past second, only two runners to second, and they got there on a stolen base and an infield single.
Wood got some help from the defense, like with Justin Turner‘s great diving stop and throw from his knees.
The Dodgers offense backed Wood up with … enough. They struck in the second inning for a pair of runs with an Enrique Hernandez double to start the inning and a one-out exchanging of places by Austin Barnes for a run.

Barnes then stole third, which directly led to another run. After Brett Eibner walked, Wood then laid down a picture perfect safety squeeze down the third-base line.
It took until the fifth for the Dodgers to get on the board again, and they did it behind a monster blast from Eibner … wait, no … yes, it was actually Eibner.
In the seventh, the Dodgers got some insurance thanks to a Chris Taylor single and a Turner double down the line to score him for the fourth run.
Overall, however, the Dodgers only had seven hits and four walks, but the sequencing was right and five of the hits went for extra bases.
Josh Fields entered in the seventh, looking to avoid the Dodgers Digest curse that Dustin put on him recently, and had a clean 1-2-3 inning.
Fields was followed by Pedro Baez, who surrendered a single, but delivered a scoreless frame thanks to a diving spear of a liner from JT. Then for the second night in a row, Kenley Jansen was summoned despite a four-run lead. While he allowed a lead-off single, he then struck out the side.
Feels good, man.

With the 4-0 win, the Dodgers are now 22-15 on the year and .500 away from Dodger Stadium at 9-9. 96-win pace isn’t too shabby, and neither is trailing the Rockies by just a half game.
The Dodgers play their last game at Satan Field until literally the last series of the season tomorrow at 9:10 AM HST/12:10 PM PST/3:10 PM EST as they go for the series win. The pitching matchup will be Julio Urias (1.06 ERA/3.69 FIP/2.94 DRA), looking to continue his outstanding start, against Antonio Senzatela (2.86 ERA/4.14 FIP/7.08 DRA), who was recently compared to Clayton Kershaw so please god somebody bring him back down to Earth.
