Ryu’s most recent start came against the Reds in Los Angeles. On June 11, he allowed four runs in four innings pitched in a game the Dodgers won, 9-7, thanks to a Corey Seager grand slam.
Asher Wojciechowski (5.21 ERA, 5.29 FIP, 1.263 WHIP) also made his most recent start in Los Angeles. On June 10, he allowed four runs in five innings pitched in a game the Dodgers won, 5-4, on Seager’s first career walk-off hit. Brim wrote this in the game thread:
Wojciechowski is an extreme fly ball pitcher (and was in the minors as well), and he has not shown much home run suppression ability yet. Given the power in the Dodger lineup, it could be something to watch.
This is even more true in the Great American Ball Park, which is famous for being home run friendly, due to its small dimensions.
A fun fact about this pitching matchup from the great Diane Firstman (prompted by J.P. Hoornstra): it ties a record for the biggest disparity between number of letters in the starters’ surnames, at 10.
Prior to 2017 there have been 13 games featuring 10-letter differences. Ken Raffensberger is part of 12 of them. https://t.co/jjjohineFO

Justin Turner is getting the day off, with Logan Forsythe starting at third in his place. Chris Taylor will bat third. With another Dodger lefty on the mound, the Reds’ lineup remains the same as yesterday.
