On this episode of Dugout Blues, Jared whines about All-Star snubs while I don’t really care.
The Dodgers have four All-Stars — Cody Bellinger, Kenley Jansen, Clayton Kershaw and Corey Seager. Justin Turner and Alex Wood are not — yet. It’s not that big a deal, but Jared is mad online about it.
The Dodgers hit 53 home runs in June. That’s amazing. It was a franchise record and just two off the National League record. Dingers are good, folks.
Rich Hill had, by far, his best start of the season. He struck out 11 Padres in seven innings. Is he back? We’ll see.
Dave Roberts got into a spat with Padres’ manager Andy Green. It was funny to see, but come on guys, let’s not do dumb things.
Logan Forsythe is heating up. He had a streak of eight consecutive hits/nine consecutive plate appearances reaching safely. If he gets going, that’s just going to be another dimension to the offense.
Kershaw is still good, because of course he is.
Yadier Alvarez and Alex Verdugo will represent the Dodgers in the Futures Game (Sunday at 1 p.m.). Both will play for the World Team. We also talk about the recent poor reports on Alvarez and we’re not worried about it. Verdugo is coming off a 20-game hitting streak. Melvin Jimenez (No. 71 on my Top 100) is tearing up the Arizona Rookie League as a 17-year-old. Stetson Allie, signed as an outfielder who was once a pitcher, is back to pitching and is touching the mid-to-high-90s on the radar gun. The July 2 signing period has begun. We chat a bit about it.
