Despite a horrendous strike zone, ejections and weather obstacles, the Dodgers (38-33) stunned the Cubs (40-29) with a come-from-behind win in the ninth inning of Game 1 of the doubleheader on Tuesday in Chicago. Pinch-hitter extraordinaire, Kyle Farmer, was down to his last strike before he came up big with a two-run double in the top of the ninth. Now the Dodgers go for the series win in the evening edition of the Wrigley Field doubleheader

Rich Hill (1-2, 6.20 ERA, 6.34 FIP) returns for his first start since May 19. He left his last start against the Nationals after two pitches after his blister issues resurfaced. #BlisterWatch is in full effect. Interestingly enough, Hill has never pitched at Wrigley Field in his career. The last time he faced the Cubs was Game 2 of the NLCS at Dodger Stadium. He allowed one run on three hits with eight strikeouts and a walk in five innings in the 4-1 Dodger win.
Mike Montgomery (2-2, 3.31 ERA, 3.89 FIP) will take the mound for the Cubbies. He has a 4.15 ERA against the Dodgers in 8 2/3 innings of work over his career. The Dodgers faced Montgomery in both the 2016 and 2017 NLCS, scoring eight runs on 15 hits in 7 2/3 innings combined during the two playoff series. The southpaw picked up a win in Game 4 of the 2016 NLCS against L.A. Yasiel Puig is 3-for-5 with a home run against Montgomery, and Austin Barnes is 3-for-4 with a homer against him as well.
Barnesy is behind the plate for Game 2, catching Hill. Justin Turner sits, and Max Muncy will man the hot corner and hit cleanup.
Right-hander Justin Hancock was recalled from Triple-A Iowa to serve as Chicago’s 26th man tonight. Brock Stewart is L.A.’s 26th man, available out of the bullpen. To make room for Hill, Breyvic Valera was optioned back to Triple-A OKC.

Farmer’s late-inning heroics is becoming a thing. I was just thinking about him the other day…
Low-key wondering what Kyle Farmer’s up to

Apparently Farmer has now been dubbed #CaptainClutch.

I’m not sure how I feel about that. The original Captain Clutch is and always will be Andre Ethier.
