Yeah, praying isn’t enough at this point.
The pen game for the Dodgers surprisingly went quite well, but the lineup had two hits in a lifeless, flaccid, inept 3-1 loss to the Brewers.

Edwin Uceta made his MLB debut tonight, looking understandably nervous at times and without his likely best stuff. After a 1st that ended on a bizarre double play, the 2nd quickly escalated as Uceta surrendered a single to start and then a one-out, two-run bomb to Jackie Bradley Jr. to make it 2-0.
Uceta’s brief start ended there, going just the two innings and giving up four hits and a walk while striking out two. He also provided some comic relief in his only at-bat.
Scott Alexander relieved Uceta in the 3rd, getting a 1-2-3 frame with two groundouts and a strikeout, basically a perfect inning for him. Mitch White took over in the 4th and got six consecutive outs, including a strikeout.
On the other side, Freddy Peralta benefitted from the struggles of the lineup. The Dodgers got a hit batter and a walk in the 1st but failed to capitalize, and then Peralta put up three 1-2-3 innings in a row. In the 5th though, AJ Pollock got the Dodgers on the board, hammering a pitch for a dong to left to make it 2-1.
But that’s all the Dodgers could muster against Peralta, who went six innings while giving up just the homer as the only hit and also a walk on the night, striking out seven.
In the 5th, Victor Gonzalez came off the IL for the Dodgers but didn’t look sharp, giving up a single and walk before escaping. Jimmy Nelson was in next and issued a walk and a balk, but did get two outs. He was relieved by Blake Treinen who got a ground out to keep the deficit intact. Treinen continued in the 7th, giving up a lead-off double, a grounder to advance the runner, and then another grounder to score a run and make it 3-1 before he got a strikeout to end the frame.
Brad Boxberger, J.P. Feyereisen, and Josh Hader got the last three frames against the Dodgers, with the only baserunner against them being a single against Boxberger.
Cool.
Well, at least Dave Roberts got ejected like fans wanted. Worked well.

The Dodgers fall to 16-11.
The third game of the four-game set is tomorrow at 1:10 PM HST/4:10 PM PST/7:10 PM EST with an emerging Dustin May against one of the best pitchers in baseball this year in Brandon Woodruff.
