The Dodgers debuted their … well, embattled City Connect jerseys tonight against the Mets, looking quite blue.
The 3-2 victory meant it was eight in a row, 12 of their last 13, and have now won five in a row against the Mets.

Carlos Carrasco hasn’t pitched much this season due to injury and his line has been rough, but a lot of that was due to his last start against the Dodgers. They didn’t quite wreck him like they did last time, but they didn’t make things pleasant for him tonight either.
Trea Turner once again proved his unique value to the Dodgers, starting the game by stretching a single into a double, advancing on a medium-deep fly out, and then scoring on a ground out to make it 1-0 early.
The 3rd proved to be an issue as well, as he gave up a single to Trea, a double to Max Muncy that scored him surprisingly easily, a walk to Justin Turner, and then a single to Corey Seager to make it 3-0.
After that Seager single, Carrasco settled in and made it through five frames, and gave way to the pen from there. Aaron Loup pitched a perfect 6th, Trevor May did the same in the 7th, and Seth Lugo was also perfect in the 8th.
Dunno what was going on, but the Dodgers didn’t get a single baserunner the rest of the way.
NL Cy Young Award candidate Walker Buehler continued to make his case tonight, going deep and limiting the damage in another great start.
After working around a hit batter and a single in the 2nd, he then gave up his only run of the game on a solo homer to Pete Alonso to start the 4th. Buehler then gave up an infield single immediately following that, and all he did from there is retire the next 12 Mets hitters in a row.
Things didn’t go according to plan in the 8th, however. A single started things off, but Buehler rebounded with a strikeout. Then he exchanged unfortunate events, as a roller in front of the mound led to another single, a wild pitch was handled poorly by Austin Barnes to advance the runners, he got a gift of a strikeout call, and then was victimized by another roller in front of the mound for a single from Alonso to make it 3-2.
Oh, and that Alonso infield single … well, should’ve actually been a foul ball.
Alex Vesia then entered and issued a walk to load the bases after a 10-pitch war with Michael Conforto, but then rebounded to dramatically strikeout J.D. Davis looking to end the threat.
Kenley Jansen was then tasked with the 9th, and he locked it down surprisingly without drama on a fly out, ground out, and strikeout.

So bad.

The Dodgers improve to 77-46 on the season and are 1.5 games back of the Giants in the NL West.
They’ll do it again tomorrow afternoon at 10:05 AM HT/1:05 PM PT/4:05 PM ET on FS1. Max Scherzer (2.69 ERA/3.36 FIP/3.08 xERA) will go against hold friend Rich Hill (4.08/4.57/4.42).
