Well, that got dramatic late, huh?
After the Dodgers jumped out to an early lead, they managed to blow two four-run leads with Max Scherzer on the mound, then fell behind big late. Things looked bleak.
But the bats mounted a late rally behind four solo homers and a dramatic go-ahead two-run homer. Sound familiar? It’s The 4+1 Game but in reverse, The 1+4 Game.

IT’S A MIRACLE
The end result was a key 11-9 win over the Padres.

As for how things got there, well it was the Dodgers who started out hot, bombing Ryan Weathers for five runs over three innings and jumping out to an early lead.

With Scherzer on the mound, that seemed like game over, but he actually continued to struggle after not looking sharp against the Rockies last time out. In 5.1 innings, he gave up six runs, five of which were earned.
Things deteriorated further from there, as after Justin Bruihl got through the 6th, Brusdar Graterol took over and gave up three runs without getting an out to make it 9-5. That’s when things seemed like it was over and that the division was truly sealed.
Then the 1+4 thing happened.
Good memories to say the least.
Meanwhile, Phil Bickford and David Price pitched important scoreless frames in the 7th and 8th, and Kenley Jansen got the 9th looking as good as he has in years.
Well, the Dodgers will still probably be in the NL Wild Card Game, but this was a ton of fun at least.
