After not being able to overcome their most feared pitcher Eric Lauer, the Dodgers bounced right back against some guy named Corbin Burnes, who suffered the same fate as Sandy Alcantara before him. The Dodgers knocked Burnes out of the game early with patience and power as Tony Gonsolin cruised to another win in a 10-1 victory over the Brewers.

The bats started immediately tonight with Mookie Betts leading off by doubling to left and Freddie Freeman singling him in for a 1-0 lead.
Burnes then had both Joey Gallo and Cody Bellinger in an 0-2 hole but both battled back to draw walks. That didn’t seem like a huge rally at the time, but Trayce Thompson made sure it was important by smashing a no-doubt three-run homer to left, his sixth of the year. 4-0.
After a clean 3rd it seemed like Burnes might settle in, but the relentless lineup continued to put him under stress, even if a bit lucky. A Chris Taylor infield single and steal was then followed by a bizarre two-out rally. Trayce reached on an “infield single” of his own that scored CT3, Mookie then struck out but reached first due to a wild pitch, and Trea Turner blooped a single for another run.
That knocked Burnes out of the game, but Freddie continued the rally with a single off Brent Suter to make it 7-0.
While all this was going on, Gonsolin was generally cruising through his start. He allowed just one runner to reach second in his first four innings, and even that was just a walk and a wild pitch. Granted, the reason that runner didn’t score was a great Mookie catch in right.
Then in the 5th Gonsolin finally relented a bit, giving up a single, walk, and single to drive in a run and cut the lead to 7-1.
His day was done at that point, though primarily due to the score and wanting to rest their playoff starters down the stretch: 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 3 K, 77 Pitches.
In relief of him was Evan Phillips in the 6th with a clean inning. David Price then got five outs without issue before giving up a single and being removed for Chris Martin, who threw three pitches to end the 8th.
While the Dodgers didn’t get much done against the Brewers pen, they did get three against Victor Caratini on the mound in the 8th to push it to 10-1.
The Dodgers responded with a position player of their own in Hanser Alberto, who got a 1-2-3 frame.
Lol.
