In danger of being swept at home by the Mets, the Dodgers had arguably their best game of the season in a 10-0 victory. The bottom of the order not only got on base but actually provided pop via Andy Pages‘ first MLB homer, and the best top of the order in the league operated as expected. All of that was in support of an excellent Tyler Glasnow, who was dominant.

After getting roughed up in his last start, Tyler Glasnow came right back and proved that was a fluke. He faced the minimum over the first five innings, retiring the first six he faced, seeing a single each in the 3rd and 4th being erased by a Will Smith throw to catch a runner stealing, and then getting the side in order in the 5th.

After a one-out single in the 6th and uncorking a wild pitch to face batters with RISP, he responded with back-to-back strikeouts. A two-out single in the 7th was similarly stranded, and he came up to the 8th due to a manageable pitch count. A lead-off single was followed by a pair of outs, but back-to-back singles loaded the bases. Dave Roberts decided to roll with Glasnow despite the pitch count approaching 100, and Glasnow rewarded him with a three-pitch strikeout to end his outing.

Oh right, the other end of things was going well, too. Adrian Houser started for the Mets and worked around a two-out double in the 1st and a one-out walk in the 2nd, but in the 3rd a lead-off walk from Gavin Lux was immediately cashed in by Shohei Ohtani‘s fifth homer of the year that left Starling Marte frozen in right.

After a quiet 4th, the floodgates opened in the 5th. Andy Pages started the rally with a double, Gavin Lux walked, and Mookie Betts drove in Pages with a single. Ohtani then singled off the pitcher to load the bases, and Freddie Freeman followed with a double past a diving Marte to score two more runs. Will Smith followed with a double of his own to push the lead to 7-0, knocking Houser out of the game.

After a Max Muncy walk put a pair on, it seemed like the Mets pen settled things down, but Andy Pages came up for the second time in the inning and drilled his first MLB homer, a three-run shot to make it 10-0 and complete the eight-run inning.

Dave went with a line change of sorts after that to get guys off their feet, and probably uncoincidentally they didn’t score the rest of the way, though they did have chances in the 6th and 7th.
Obviously that didn’t matter much, as Nick Ramirez entered to close the blowout in the 9th, and got three groundouts to end the day.
Nice angry win.

They improve to 13-11 and are still first in the NL West, which is sorta hilarious considering how this is like doom and gloom for Dodger fans.
After another day off tomorrow, this time for travel, it’ll be James Paxton and Patrick Corbin in Washington as the Dodgers start the road trip against the Nationals at 12:45 PM HT/3:45 PM PET/6:45 PM ET.
