Dodgers 6, Braves 1: Tyler Glasnow looks sharp in season debut as Dodgers remain perfect

A day off was the only thing that could stop the Dodgers from winning, but thankfully it didn’t seem to slow down their momentum much. Kicking off a new series against the Braves, Tyler Glasnow took to the bump and looked in All-Star form, helping the Dodgers cruise to a 6-1 victory that helps them remain perfect on the year.

As mentioned, Glasnow was mostly dominant and looked in mid-season form. He did walk some batters, but he was also getting bizarrely squeezed at times. Regardless, he only really faced trouble in the 2nd when he walked back-to-back batters to open the inning, but then induced three straight pop-ups to end it without drama. He didn’t give up a hit until there was one out in the 5th, an inning where he did give up two of them (singles), but punctuated his outing with a strikeout.

Dave Roberts must’ve been glad he gave up a hit: 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 8 K, 79 Pitches.

As Glasnow was mostly cruising, the Dodgers offense continued to slug. They provided him with an early lead in the 1st against old friend Grant Holmes, as Shohei Ohtani drew a lead-off walk and Teoscar Hernandez hammered his second homer of the year for a 2-0 lead.

After a quiet 2nd, the assault resumed in the 3rd, as Mookie Betts reached on an infield single, Teoscar drew a walk, and Michael Conforto continued his hot start with a double to push the lead to 3-0.

After Will Smith drew a walk to load the bases, Tommy Edman hit a ball to the warning track in center for a sac fly that made it 4-0 early.

A 1-2-3 4th saw Holmes’ night end, and he gave way to Enyel De Los Santos, who allowed a Teoscar single in the 5th that was advanced to second on a wild pitch and cashed in by a Will Smith single. 5-0.

Jesse Chavez came in for the Braves in the 6th and was greeted by Enrique Hernandez‘s second homer of the year to push the lead to 6-0.

Due to Glasnow’s pitch count and it being March, the pen entered in the 6th for the good guys in blue. Jack Dreyer issued a lead-off walk but then followed with three outs in a row to move things along. Alex Vesia was next in the 7th, coasting through a nine-pitch inning.

Tanner Scott then continued his struggles in the 8th, ending the shutout by surrendering a lead-off homer to Michael Harris II that made it 6-1.

Luis Garcia then ended it in the 9th with a scoreless frame, and he’s being used like a good who won’t be around for much longer.

Shohei is now sliding without using his hand.

The Dodgers improve to 6-0 on the year, yet amusingly only have a half-game divisional lead due to the Padres starting 5-0.

I had been forgetting to post about tomorrow’s game in these, so here it is now! It’ll be Dustin May making his 2025 debut against Braves ace Chris Sale at 4:10 PM HT/7:10 PM PT/10:10 PM ET.
