After a 75-minute rain delay, somebody forgot to tell the Dodgers offense things started as they got blanked in a 5-0 loss to the Cardinals.
======
Cardinals starter Sonny Gray was simultaneously dealing and facing quite a bit of traffic.
He allowed a one-out double in the 1st, back-to-back singles with one-out in the 2nd that ended when a Dalton Rushing drive to right fell short on the warning track, and leadoff back-to-back singles in the 3rd, but navigated around all of it while keeping his pitch count low.
Gray followed with clean frames in the 4th and 5th before having to work around a one-out double and two-out single in the 6th, eventually leaving with 90 pitches and one down in the 7th having allowed a single in the inning, but a reliever entered and erased that with a double play from Shohei Ohtani of all people.
The bats needed to score tonight, or at least work the count with the Cardinals coming off a doubleheader, and they essentially did neither.
Arguably their best chance came in the 8th, when they had second and third with nobody out, but they also did nothing with that and went down quietly in the 9th.
Yikes.

On the other end was Justin Wrobleski, who touched 100 mph, which was promising.

Unfortunately, he also gave up a two-run homer to Pedro Pages in the 2nd.

In the 5th, two walks and a single scored two runs to make it 4-0.

Still, he made it through six innings.
From there, Anthony Banda got a scoreless 7th and Chris Stratton did his thing, giving up a run in the 8th for a 5-0 final.

Feel like they should find a way to get Hyeseong Kim more plate appearances.

They need to find out what he’s about at some point.
Just FYI cause I saw some questions about Matt Sauer‘s status.
For those asking about Matt Sauer, it's likely cause he only has two options left this year. Notably (?) he's back to starting in AAA.

The series will continue tomorrow, presumably at 8:15 AM HT/11:15 AM PT/2:15 PM ET, but there’s apparently a high chance of rain delay again. Well, hopefully it doesn’t get too wonky because the Dodgers have Yoshinobu Yamamoto going on five days rest against Erick Fedde.
