Another year of not being in the mood to write about this team post White House visit. The Dodgers (65-38) won the rubber match in Philly on Wednesday and most of them celebrated their championship with a fascist. They wrap up their 10-game road trip with three against the Mets, who are having a typically Mets season. They’ve been bad (43-60, last in the NL East and the fifth-worst record in baseball) and will likely be sellers next week headed into the trade deadline. They’ve lost six of the nine games they’ve played since the break and have the fifth-worst team wRC+ (92), but have very middle-of-the-pack pitching numbers (15th-best team ERA, 11th-best team FIP). The Dodger swept the Mets in LA back in April, outscoring them 14-3 in the three games.

Roki Sasaki gets the ball coming off one of the best start of his career against the Yankees, allowing a run and five hits over 5 2/3 innings outdueling Gerrit Cole for a 2-1 win. Sean Manaea makes his eighth start and 22nd outing of the season for the Mets. Manaea moved to the rotation on June 13 and has been okay as a starter, with a 4.42 ERA/4.77 FIP in 36 2/3 innings. He’s allowed two homers in each of his three June starts, and the Mets are 2-5 when Manaea starts.
With a lefty on the hill, Miguel Rojas starts at second and hits sixth. Tommy Edman starts at third for Max Muncy and hits third with Mookie Betts continuing to hit fifth.

Not really any news pregame, but after Wednesday’s game Dave Roberts said Shohei Ohtani would throw his next bullpen tomorrow in New York.
