Brewers 4, Dodgers 1: Wrobo’s dong problem continues, bats can’t get big hit against Miz

With the series split coming into this one, the Brewers have the advantage against everybody with Jacob Misiorowski on the mound, and he mostly lived up to the billing by getting out of the rare trouble he did get into. Meanwhile, Justin Wrobleski had homer problems coming into this one and two more two-run shots ruined what was otherwise a quality outing in a 4-1 Dodgers loss.

Let’s start with Justin Wrobleski, who gave up a two-out single in the 1st that Teoscar Hernandez looked like he got a late jump on. That didn’t hurt him in that inning, but a two-out single in the 2nd that seemed to be hit where he started off positioned was followed by a Joey Ortiz two-run homer.

Wrobo then got a 1-2-3 frame in the 3rd, but a lead-off walk was eventually capitalized on via a two-out, two-run homer from William Contreras.

I … didn’t understand the pitch selection.

You throw Contreras five straight fastballs and he's not on it. He's struggling with his swing being on time. So you throw a cutter/slider down that allows him to speed his bat up. Just dumb, tbh.

Wrobo bounced back with a clean 5th and then only hit a batter with two outs in the 6th, but obviously the homers ruined his outing, as they tend to do: 6 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 1 BB, 6 K, 107 Pitches.

Of course, Jacob Misiorowski was on the other end, and four runs is usually more than enough for him.

After two clean innings to start, Alex Call nubbed an infield single with one-out in the 3rd for their first baserunner. With two down, Shohei Ohtani chopped a ball down the right-field line for a triple to get the Dodgers on the board.

Miz was able to get out of that without further damage, and rebounded with a clean 4th.

The 5th was the Dodgers’ big chance, as a one-out single by Teoscar Hernandez was followed by another from Call and then another from Hunter Fedducia to load the bases with one out. Miz then dominated Shohei Ohtani for a three-pitch strikeout and then also struck out Freddie Freeman to escape unscathed.

After he gave up just a one-out walk in the 6th, that was it, and the Dodgers didn’t fare terribly poorly against the Miz, even if it wasn’t enough.

Not much happened the rest of the way, though.

Jonathan Hernandez gave up just a single and an intentional walk in the final three innings to save the pen.

Unfortunately, the Dodgers didn’t do much on the other side, going down in order in the 7th and 8th. They did get a pair of baserunners with two outs in the 9th on a walk and error, but that was it.
