Dodgers 11, Rockies 4: Shohei Ohtani has another huge day, Triple Crown is … lurking

The biggest news out of the Dodgers-Rockies series is the National Anthem standoff between Landon Knack and Kyle Freeland, which the Dodgers lost. A shame!

Well that and Shohei Ohtani chasing history, which he definitely continued today, totaling another huge day in an easy 11-4 victory.

The scoring started with a Teoscar Hernandez moonshot to left (32nd) that drove in himself and Gavin Lux for a pair.

They continued to add on in the 2nd, notching three singles, two walks, and a double steal that led to three more runs. Chris Taylor and Shohei Ohtani had RBI singles, and Shohei stole his 57th that scored the other.

Andy Pages added on by homering again in the 4th (13th), his third in the last five games.

The 6th was also eventful, as Chris Taylor doubled and Austin Barnes singled to start the inning, and then Shohei absolutely unloaded on his 54th homer of the year for three more runs.

Following a double and walk later in the inning, they eventually got a 10th run on a Tommy Edman sac fly. The main highlight the rest of the way was Shohei doubling, putting him within striking distance of the Triple Crown. He scored later on a Kevin Kiermaier single to make it 11.

For the Dodgers, the pen game started with Ryan Brasier as the opener. He gave up a run on a walk and triple, but then surprisingly was able to limit the damage to just that.

After that, Ben Casparius basically had a start and he looked impressive. He gave up a run on an error in the 5th and gave up three hits in a row in the 6th as he looked to be tiring, but was otherwise impressive.

Wish he got a look earlier, as the stuff looks legit: 4.1 IP, 6 H, 2 R (1 ER), 2 BB, 7 K, 85 Pitches.

Joe Kelly took over and actually got four outs without mess, then Edgardo Henriquez entered and got four outs of his own, but did give up a run on a rather walk, wild pitch, and single off a glove sequence to make it 11-4.

Daniel Hudson then closed things out in the 9th.

More history, as Ohtani has set a runs scored record for a Dodger.
