Dodgers 3, Giants 0: Tyler Glasnow twirls 8 shutout innings, allowing only one (1) hit

After dropping the first two games and the series, the Dodgers and its struggling offense wasn’t going to get help in facing Giants ace Logan Webb. However, the Dodgers got him just fine and their own ace (one of them) in Tyler Glasnow twirled eight shutout frames to avoid a sweep in a 3-0 victory.

Let’s start with the star of the game: Tyler Glasnow.

Amusingly, there isn’t a lot to write about because he was that dominant. He’s had outings before where he looked like this, but was unlucky with the sequencing to even have an ERA as high as he did. Today, he finally got a line he deserved.

The biggest threat against him arguably came in the 1st when he issued a one-out walk and allowed a stolen base … and also struck out the side. An error started the 2nd, but he faced the minimum there thanks to a double play. He then got a clean 3rd, then saw the first hit he allowed in the 4th erased by another double play to keep him sailing along.

To close his outing, it was all dominance. He retired the final 12 he faced in a row, going into the 8th inning and going over 100 pitches: 8 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 9 K, 105 Pitches.

Logan Webb started for the Giants, which seemed like the toughest matchup on paper, but he hasn’t been sharp in 2025 and he couldn’t keep the Dodgers down.

In the 2nd, Max Muncy reached on a walk and was on second base with two down in the frame, at which point Dalton Rushing reached out and poked a single to center to give the Dodgers an early lead.

It was the 4th that provided a bit of breathing room, as the bats started with back-to-back doubles from Kyle Tucker and Max Muncy. After a couple of unproductive outs, Hyeseong Kim rescued the team with a single to plate another and make it 3-0.

They did nothing else, but it didn’t really matter either.

Tanner Scott then entered for the save in the 9th, and got it in clean 1-2-3 fashion.

Webb did retaliate on a clear intentional HBP on Rushing, and Rushing then slid hard into second.

Thankfully, things didn’t escalate. The Dodgers don’t need that.

Bigger fish.

17-8, still decent, lol.

The Dodgers will return home for a three-game series against the Cubs, starting at 4:10 PM HT/7:10 PM PT/10:10 PM ET on Apple TV. It’ll be Emmet Sheehan looking to find some consistency against Jameson Taillon.
