Podcast: ‘Dugout Blues’ episode 104 – Trades, Kemp, Ethier, Lester

On this episode of “Dugout Blues,” Jared Massey (Dodgers Nation) and I look at the minor deals the Dodgers have made since the last recording, and dive into all the rumors on the hot stove.

First, the Dodgers acquired Juan Nicasio from the Rockies. He could end up being a nice bullpen piece. The Dodgers also traded for Chris Heisey and claimed Ryan Lavarnway off waivers. All these moves scream depth and allow for future moves, just as Farhan Zaidi indicated in a conference call with reporters.

Matt Kemp is going to get traded. Proabaly. Unless he doesn’t. The Padres, despite being division rivals, might be the best fit in terms of what the Dodgers need. But, the Dodgers need his right-handed power, too.

Andre Ethier was almost traded to the Diamondbacks for Miguel Montero. That would have been interesting, to say the least.

The Dodgers finally get in on the Jon Lester talk. He’s still unsigned, and it seems there are four teams vying for his services: Cubs, Dodgers, Giants, Red Sox.

Darwin Barney avoided arbitration, A.J. Ellis and everyone else were tendered contracts, providing more potential depth for the club.

Finally, we close with a good ol’ Q&A session.
