With MLB TV apparently obliterated today, it was impossible to do highlights for this game, which was unfortunate since the game never felt in doubt. Odd thing to say about a game in save situation territory, but it’s true, as the Dodgers cruised to a 4-1 victory over the Rockies.
The Dodgers have now won seven in a row, 11 of their last 12, and have secured four series wins in a row.

Tonight, Tony Gonsolin was apparently with his potential rotation spot on the line, and his first pitch of the game was hit out for a homer by Ezequiel Tovar.
Needless to say that wasn’t an ideal start for him, but it actually led to his best start since about mid-June. He was dominant after the homer, giving up just a double and a single for the rest of the game, noteworthy because he actually ended up going six frames.
He also got a ton of whiffs, and while it was the Rockies, it was what he needed: 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 6 K, 91 Pitches.

As mentioned though, the Dodgers did cruise for the most part. Will Smith got the run Gonsolin surrendered back immediately in the 1st, hitting his 15th homer of the year to tie the game up.

Things continued in the 2nd, as Enrique Hernandez stayed hot as a Dodger by doubling, and James Outman followed him by smashing his 14th homer of the year to make it 3-1.

After a quiet few innings to complete Peter Lambert‘s outing, the Rockies pen was greeted immediately by Amed Rosario lining his 6th homer of the year to left for a 4-1 lead.

That was actually all they got, but it was more than enough.
In relief of Gonsolin, the Dodgers pen was impressive again. Ryan Brasier had a 12-pitch inning in the 7th, Brusdar Graterol had an 11-pitch frame in the 8th, and finally it was Evan Phillips in the 9th, who struck out the side for a dominant outing.

The only downside is this:
Freddie Freeman is out of the game after getting hit on the right knee last half-inning. Something to monitor. Was moving very gingerly.
