After the Dodgers had their win streak snapped to end the series against the Diamondbacks, they headed to San Francisco to start the series against the rival Giants, which is a significant mismatch on paper. However, it’s never that simple when it comes to this matchup, and that certainly applied tonight in a quiet 2-1 loss.

Drew Pomeranz entered today with an ERA of 8.08, so of course he shut down one of the highest-scoring offenses in baseball, limiting them to three singles over five shutout innings. After he escaped a bases loaded, one out situation in the 1st thanks to back-to-back strikeouts, he was never threatened again.
Clayton Kershaw was just as good, however, as he did not allow a Giant to get past first until the 5th. But in the 6th he was victimized by a shitty field, as a catchable fly ball dropped foul after Chris Taylor was tripped up by the bullpen mound. That resulted in a walk, which was followed by a single, and was eventually plated by another single to give the Giants the lead after CT3’s throw was off line. After a wild pitch that moved both runners up, a grounder scored another as the play at the plate wasn’t in time.
That was basically the inning that beat him, as Kershaw didn’t give up another run, limiting the Giants to just six hits (all singles) and a walk, striking out four over seven innings.
At least Max Muncy was helping on defense.
Dylan Floro followed him by getting a scoreless frame in the 8th to close things out on that end.
It took until the 8th for the Dodgers to get anything going, as CT3 smashed a homer to center to cut the deficit to one at 2-1.
Unfortunately, they seriously could not get anything done tonight, totaling just six hits and two walks.

The Dodgers fall to 43-21 on the season and have their NL West lead down to 9 games over the Rockies.
The two teams will do it again tomorrow at 1:15 PM HST/4:15 PM PST/7:15 EST, with the odd start time likely due to it being on FOX. Rich Hill will look to continue his stellar stretch against Jeff Samardzija.
